Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States with a US phone number to use Scam Checker. By signing up, you represent that you meet these requirements.

Scam Checker is available in the United States only.

Scam Checker is an SMS-based service. You text us a screenshot of a suspicious message — an email, text, piece of mail, or notification — and we send you a verdict indicating whether the message shows signs of being a scam.

Scam Checker is not a security monitoring service, antivirus product, identity protection service, or real-time fraud prevention system. It analyzes screenshots you choose to submit and provides a second opinion.

How you consent: By submitting the signup form at getscamchecker.com, where the SMS terms are disclosed, and replying YES to the Scam Checker confirmation message, you provide your express written consent to receive recurring automated SMS and MMS messages from Scam Checker at the phone number you provided.

Message frequency:Varies based on how many screenshots you submit. You’ll receive one reply per submission, plus occasional account-related messages.

Message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless carrier for details.

To stop messages: Reply STOP to any message from us. We will send you a confirmation and stop all further messages. Replying STOP from a paid subscription will also cancel your subscription immediately.

Scam Checker is not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages due to carrier issues.

Free tier: New users receive 2 free scam checks. No payment is required to use your free checks.

Paid subscription: After your free checks are used, a subscription at $4.99 per month is required for continued access. This subscription automatically renews each month at $4.99 until you cancel. Subscribed users receive unlimited checks while their subscription is active. Cancel at any time by texting STOP; cancellation is immediate.

Beta users: If you signed up through getscamchecker.com/beta, you have unlimited checks at no charge for the duration of your beta access. Beta terms may change with notice.

Payment is processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Scam Checker LLC to charge your payment method $4.99 on a monthly recurring basis, beginning on your subscription date, until you cancel.

We do not store your payment card information. All payment data is handled by Stripe. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy for details.

If your payment fails, your access to new verdicts will be paused until payment is resolved. Stripe may attempt to retry failed payments per their standard retry schedule.

If you purchase a gift subscription at getscamchecker.com/gift:

• You authorize us to charge your payment method $4.99 at the time of purchase.
• The recipient must reply YES to our invitation message to activate their subscription. The recipient’s consent governs.
• If the recipient replies NO or STOP, you will receive a full refund.
• If the recipient does not respond within 30 days, your subscription pauses and the $4.99 stays as credit reserved for that recipient. No further charges occur until they activate.
• Once the recipient activates, your payment method will be charged $4.99 per month on the anniversary of their activation date.
• The recipient can cancel at any time by replying STOP. This will cancel your subscription immediately. No refund is issued for partial months after activation.

Text STOP to cancel. Replying STOP to any message from Scam Checker immediately cancels your subscription and stops all further messages.

You may also cancel by emailing support@getscamchecker.com.

Cancellation is effective immediately. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods, except as described in Section 6 (Gift Subscriptions) or where required by applicable law.

By texting a screenshot or image to Scam Checker, you:

• Grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to use and analyze the submitted content for the purpose of providing the service.
• Represent that you have the right to submit the content.
• Acknowledge that submitted images are transmitted to a third-party AI service (Anthropic’s Claude API) for analysis.
• Acknowledge that screenshots are stored for up to 7 days and then permanently deleted.

Do not submit images that contain your Social Security number, bank account numbers, passwords, or other highly sensitive personal information beyond what appears in the suspicious message you want checked.

We do not use your submissions to train AI models or share them with third parties beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

Scam Checker provides analysis and opinions, not guaranteed facts.

We cannot guarantee that every scam will be detected or that every message we flag is a scam.

Even when Scam Checker returns a verdict of “No Clear Signs of a Scam,” you should verify through official channels before sharing personal information, clicking links, or sending money.

We are not liable for any losses, harm, or damages arising from reliance on our verdicts.

By using Scam Checker, you acknowledge that your data may be processed by these providers in accordance with their respective terms and privacy policies.

Screenshots you submit are stored for up to 7 days and then permanently deleted.

A structured log of each submission is retained separately. This log includes text extracted from the image, the verdict returned, signals identified, scam type detected, and timestamps. It does not contain the screenshot image. This log is used to improve verdict accuracy and maintain your submission history.

You agree not to:

• Submit content for any purpose other than checking for scams
• Submit content that is illegal, defamatory, or that violates the rights of others
• Use the service through automated means or bots
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the service or its infrastructure
• Share your account access with others

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access for violations of these terms.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or availability of the service or its verdicts.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your specific needs.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Scam Checker LLC and its members, officers, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including financial losses, data loss, or harm arising from reliance on a verdict — whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the service will not exceed the total amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months prior to the claim, or one hundred dollars ($100), whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence to the extent such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Scam Checker LLC regarding your use of the service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, representations, or understandings.

No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms will not be construed as a waiver of our right to enforce that provision in the future.

We may update these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by SMS or email before the effective date. Your continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
